Lester Hendren (L.H.) Stimmel (1904-1972) was a professor of English at Colorado A & M, later renamed Colorado State University, from 1928 until his retirement in 1968. He specialized in nineteenth century American literature and was known for his high standards for usage and grammar in composition.
